How to Arrange and Select Home Furniture Effectively

Are you having hard time budgeting your salary to find cost-efficient home furniture to decorate and to make your homes attractive and pleasing? Are you struggling to live comfortably on the existing home furnishings you have? Are you having trouble where to place specific home interior in your home?

Decorating your homes does not only mean purchasing the best home interiors and furniture in the market, but also how to arrange them effectively to suit your lifestyle, activities and quality of work life. The aesthetic and practical placement of every furniture in your home can be very challenging, especially when you are dealing with a very small or very large space. You need to take note on how each room is utilized, how much foot traffic in these rooms have, and how to balance out various furniture found in every room.

Before you start buying home furniture or decorating the living room, bedroom, kitchen, patio or whatever part of the house you intend to change, first consider the lifestyle and behavior of those using them.

Choose a style that you intend to have, like contemporary, modern, country, French country, Victorian and many more. Also select the right painting for your wall color to suit the whole look of the room.

Always take time to plan every room in your house, consider the likes, behavior, lifestyle and quality of life the users of these room. Arrange the furniture accordingly to suit how the room will be used. Traffic paths should be at least 24 inches wide and place chairs eight feet apart and towards each other to create a comfortable, conducive and conversational atmosphere.

Measure each room and each furniture that will be used. Take into consideration any small alcoves, windows and awkward spaces in the room because it will guide you on your future furniture purchases.

Draw up your room plan, like what professional interior designers do, to anticipate how the room will look like, how the pieces of furniture will work together, and how it fit together within the structure of each room.

When drawing up your own layout plane, use a squared paper and a pencil. Every square found on the paper is equivalent to one foot of a measurement. Also draw out the dimensions of the rooms that you intend to decorate.

Draw pictures of the prospective furniture that you plan to incorporate in the room based on the measurement that you took beforehand. These pictures do not have to be artistic, but it need to have true measurement based on room dimensions.

Cut out these pictures and rearrange them according to your desired placement decisions. Place the furniture in proportion of the size of each room. Try to balance the dimensions and height of each pieces of furniture according to the size of the room. Rooms filled with bulky and tall furniture look cluttered and out proportion. If your room has large sofa and large chairs next to each other, it will look unbalanced, thus, it is suggested to cluster two small chairs or small end table next to the large sofa.
