Cirque Shows in Las Vegas

Currently, the world-famous Cirque du Soleil has seven permanent shows (or worlds, as they prefer to call them) in Las Vegas. Each has its own distinct, modern interpretation of acrobatics, music, design, and storytelling.

Mystère

At Treasure Island, Mystère is one of Cirque’s longest-running shows in Las Vegas, running twice-nightly shows since 1993. Despite its long history, this family-friendly performance continues to wow audiences with its Chinese poles, hand-to-hand balancing, and aerial high-bars acts. And yes, you get the clowns in this one.

Love

Celebrating the musical legacy of The Beatles and arising from a personal friendship between the late George Harrison and Cirque founder, Guy Laliberté, Cirque’s Love show runs nightly at the Mirage. The difference between this Cirque production and the others is the element of dancing and some cool roller-skating stunts performed by the cast of 60 international artists. This is a must-see for Beatles fans. The performance also features some original audio recordings from The Beatles’ Abbey Road studio.

O

At the Bellagio, the aquatic-themed O Cirque production (O sounds like the French word for water, “eau”) has 85 artists performing in water, out of water, and over water in an array of synchronized swimming routines and breath-taking dives. Equally awesome is the quick transformation of the stage from a 25-foot pool to a flat surface. “O” has been running at the Bellagio since 1998.

The Cirque show KÀ revolves around a story of a set of imperial twins who are separated. If you like following plots, Cirque’s storytelling is strongest in this production relative to the other Cirque productions in Las Vegas. Other unique elements in this production include martial arts. (Yes, that’s martial arts as in Jackie Chan). There are two nightly shows at MGM Grand from Tuesdays to Saturdays.

Zumanity

Adult-themed Zumanity is Cirque’s interpretation of the world of erotica, sex, and sensuality. You can watch Zumanity at New York New York Fridays to Tuesdays. As a cirque production, it’s different from the others as there are some naughty sex themes explored and there’s also partial nudity. You might choose a different option if you have kids with you or if you are conservative-minded.

Believe

If you are a fan of street magician Chris Angel, then Believe will be your Cirque of choice. The show is a haunting, gothic-themed magic show. It’s more characteristic of Chris Angel than Cirque. Chris’ illusionary magic is the main event here. Believe runs at the Luxor Theatre for most nights except for Sundays and Mondays.

Viva Elvis

Newcomer Aria Resort and Casino at CityCenter is host to the newest Cirque production, Viva Elvis. Viva Elvis is a tribute to the life and music of legendary Elvis Presley. Unlike the other Cirque productions that heavily feature aerial acrobatics, this production is more reminiscent of old-school, Vegas-style dancing. Don’t expect the usual, gravity-defying stunts that characterize other Cirque productions. This 77-cast production includes nine musicians and four female singers, but the only male voice you’ll hear is that of the King himself.
